Dr. Isabel Santos-Santos
Theoretical Astrophysics and Cosmology
I am a Postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Computational Cosmology in Durham University (UK) working with Prof Carlos Frenk. Previously, I was a postdoc in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Victoria (Canada) working with Prof Julio Navarro. I completed my Ph.D. in Astrophysics and Cosmology at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain), under the supervision of Prof Rosa Domínguez Tenreiro and Dr Chris Brook.

My research focuses on the cosmological role played by dwarf galaxies -the least massive but most numerous type of galaxy in the Universe. I study cosmological hydrodynamical simulations of the formation and evolution of galaxies, mainly within the standard Lambda-Cold dark matter framework, to address questions regarding the nature of dark matter as well as the formation history of our Galaxy the Milky Way, and its satellite population.
